Stepping Back to Move Forward

Stepping Back to Move Forward

Sometimes, we think we are on the right path, and then BOOM! A setback, disappointment, frustration, or failure arises.  This can easily cause a downward spiral of emotions—feelings of helplessness and self-doubt.   Claiming success in any area of your life means creating purpose-filled visions, embracing the obstacles, and moving forward with a growth mindset.  Sometimes, it also means stepping back to move forward.

Our emotions are feedback mechanisms.  When we encounter obstacles, it can be easy to fall into a cycle of negative self-talk or unhealthy ways of dealing with a sense of defeat.  Over time, these self-perpetuating cycles of thoughts, feelings and behaviors can reduce your well-being.

We all encounter obstacles on our journey.  A growth mindset involves three action steps to navigate through:

  1. Letting go of your ego
Claiming success in any area of your life first begins with believing in yourself. We hear that all the time.  I was so excited about my first website.  I took on the challenge and was proud of my results.   Then I began to reassess, and I will admit, it didn’t feel good.
  2. Broadening your lens
STEP BACK? Yes, step back to widen the lens you are looking through. It is important to take time to reflect, reassess and alter your path along your journey.   Ask yourself, “Is this the best reflection of who I AM?” “Is there a different strategy that might work better?” or “What am I missing?” The outcome may not fully remove the varying changes of emotions, but you’ll be able to redirect your energy to focus on the great and marvelous thing you would like to do.  Then, bring your thoughts together with action. 3. Seeking professional help
Try to fix firmly in your own mind what you would like to do, and then without delay, acknowledge the goal, desire, or change you want. Seek help from experts who can accelerate your progress and advance your goals.  I felt accomplished for stepping out of my comfort zone and designing my website on my own.   But I have to admit the challenge of building a website was a bit out of my league, and it is okay to ask for help! Not just anyone’s help, but professional help!

At every crossroads in our personal life journey, there is a lesson.  My revised website, transformwithroz.com, is a better reflection of my original intent, and a personal example of how to apply a growth mindset for claiming success.

I welcome the opportunity to help you along your journey.   Visit transformwithroz.com for ways to get in touch.
